Hi everybody :) So happy to bring you another update, A constant message recently has been one of metamorphosis. When you look up this word in the dictionary it says, “-(in an insect or amphibian) the process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages. -a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.” And that’s exactly how it feels every time for me. Transformation and growth always feels involuntary. Like I’m finally getting used to being a caterpillar and boom! Gotta morph! Pack her up! Get your ass in the cocoon. It feels like even if I didn’t want to, I’d still be called to a higher ground. And that comes with a lot of complications that I’m not always ready for. It comes with imposter syndrome that beats my ass every time, it comes with a lot of mourning of the old me and my past lives and my least favorite side effect of that being grief. And how silly does that sound? To complain about growing and getting better and reaching higher ground. It sounds ridiculous when I think of it and very ridiculous when I consider 290 people and counting reading this newsletter once a week. But let’s talk about it! When I was part of a church, a concept we went over a lot was bondage. Not the freaky kind 🙃 So basically, something I have always carried with me was the idea of somebody getting out of jail, okay. Say they been in jail for 30 yrs, they serve the time, they come out and all the technology is different, their fav fits are now undeniably trash and their friends have all moved on without them. They also have no idea how to navigate this new world. Is it odd that they would kind of miss being in jail? Because although they were in bondage and held captive, at least they knew wtf was going on in there. Is there right or wrong in this instance? I personally don’t think so. These are natural human reactions and emotions to change. And this is my personal experience very often. Does the butterfly ever miss being a caterpillar? Do they miss the cocoon? Bitch maybe! But isn’t there so much more freedom and bliss in being a butterfly? Yes of course! This is something I like to touch base on when uncertainty and anxiety start to creep in. I’ve learned a lot being in my recent cocoon. My own company has never felt so serious, I have never been given so much instruction to be disciplined and genuine. I can honestly say, ‘ignorance is bliss’ because sometimes I wish I could still act oblivious or unbothered to things that once held no weight. But I simply can’t. I find myself having to just calm down a lot tbh. In the current state of the world, my first priority is to uphold and defend people like myself that never got any priority or privilege. I hope that more uneducated, undocumented, unmarried, BIPOC (especially women) can have access to my work. I hope that as soon as they see me they know that am here for them most of all, to defend them and speak up for them unapologetically and with no shame or hesitation. I also hope that it is clear that my trust is with those who share similar priorities. Because if you are not leveraging your own privilege to help others that have none, then what are you doing with it? I hope that my work can inspire more people to get their Carrie Bradshaw on and turn drama and emotional weight into cold hard content! I hope that their own work can align them with more people like themselves like it has done for me. This is freedom. Knowing that I have involuntarily created a new path for myself and people like me where there was not one. I say involuntary because the most I’ve had to do is SUBMIT, SUBSCRIBE and SURRENDER to Spirit. The rest was all nature.
