Assigned Tribe! We made it to 2021! Thank you all for your support. I’m so excited for the new year and everything that there is to create and share with ya’ll. This newsletter took a few drafts to finally come to life because half way through me writing, I would realize that I had no idea wtf I was talking about. My long time desire has been to bring a message of rest and recovery, but this is still something that is very new to me. It is a tool that I am just beginning to understand and appreciate. I didn’t grow up feeling like I had the privilege to rest. Rest was for people who were laborers, for construction workers. I have always felt guilty about taking a break. So I keep very busy. Working, creating, scrolling, eating, showering, even sleeping sometimes feels like work because I’ll literally say, “I gotta sleep!” another task! Recently, my mind, body and spirit took the break for me. I had no choice but to sit my ass down. I had no choice but to pray, cry, meditate, call a therapist, rest, write, recalibrate. It put a lot into perspective for me. It validated me. I have always known that I am very tenacious, but damn, after that, I can say that I am really a hard ass bitch. Wow, I did that. I came out on the other side of that. I saw people react to me in the disheveled state I was in. I felt and saw how they embraced me and comforted me, also how they didn’t. I could feel the heavy presence of anxiety and pain that I carried and it equipped me. That was my teacher for the season. I was able to see from that place and it was so fucked up but also so necessary. I had to take a break and reassess. I had to put my money where my mouth is and practice what I always preach. It was a process, I could not rush my healing. I had to feel all of it in real time. I feel more fearless than ever now in my recovery state. I saw very dark things up close. Things that were not mine to carry, but I took them on anyways. Although I would not wish that shit on my worst enemy, it was so so so integral for me to move forward with confidence and faith in God. When I was in that place, I understood that God is all there is. Our connection and communication with Source is supreme. I recently started consulting my good friend Michelle for dream analysis. This has been the best decision I’ve made in a long time. It solidifies the importance of rest. How our mind is working to help us heal and analyze even while we are not busy! There is endless information within recovery. And it adds magic to all of it. It is so much fun. Our subconscious works very hard to help us digest what our waking mind cannot fathom.
