Hi everybody :) So happy to bring you another update, Okay, first of all-thank you everyone who responds to my emails and shares any feedback with me. I get so excited to hear how my reminders land for you :))))))))) A constant message for me personally has been being legitimate when it comes to what works for me. Being factual about what is beneficial and what is detrimental to my emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs. Now that I’m 30, I look back even to right before my 30th birthday, and I recognize how in very extreme ways I had myself so fucked up. Omg. It’s uncomfortable to sit with. But it’s trial and error, I forgive the past version of me. I love her, I honor her. She was doing her very best. That’s why I say, there will be a time when we have to admit, que no mas te haces guey, no realmente estas guey. And that’s why authenticity and legitimacy in our understanding and fulfillment of self is so important. Over the last 5-6 months, so many one on one readings deliver a consistent message of self validation. The advice is, do things because you feel like it, because it’s nice to look at. Buy yourself flowers, get your favorite color manicure. Sometimes when we indulge this way, it becomes obvious that a lot of the things we have been part taking are not even cool to us. Maybe they were, and they aren’t anymore. Maybe blue was your big cousins favorite color and so it was yours too, now that you got a blue manicure, you realize you don’t like blue at all. How would you have found out otherwise? Don’t you deserve to know what you really like? I tell you all, make a playlist, buy a new comforter. Treat yourself like somebody you are trying to get to know and win over, BECAUSE YOU ARE <3 It is sometimes difficult to break up with the version of you who thought they had it all figured out. It’s a challenge to have to lay that version to rest. But they are in your way and keeping you from new experiences, this will teach us we are the only realistic opposition in our own lives. It’s not always easy to have to be on standby and take a breather while your programs are updating, but it’s the best gift we can give ourselves. Being flexible and adaptable doesn’t come naturally to all of us. It can be difficult to unlearn things that have been hammered into our psyche. It takes effort and it takes some redirection of pride. I have observed in my own experience how it is easier and even just convenient to always side with my programmed self. The one that has been taught a certain way, the one who is overprotective, territorial to a fault, unconditional with my tolerance and cannot be proved wrong. I use this facet of my personality to defend myself when my embedded beliefs become contradicting or when I am in embarrassing situations. But where the fuck am I supposed to go with that? It lands me in a very particular type of isolation. I become attached to situations, thoughts, people or relationships because I have spent time and resources on them, not necessarily because they make me happy. I defend my association with these things and then am forced to take it up with my inner dialogue, and some things just don’t feel good when we sit with them alone. I am forced to pit stagnant and progressive concepts against each other, and how is that even a fair argument? Recently, I’ve learned to nip all that shit at the bud. I don’t schedule in irrelevant interactions for the sake of being social if it is not fulfilling. I do not gift my attention to things that give me cortisol spikes. I don’t disrespect my value by explaining or performatively exploring painfully obvious things. I don’t owe my peace to anybody or anything. Honoring my multidisciplinary artistry and diving into my passions has made it easier to do so because by doing this, I have discovered it is what I love to do. Entertaining certain conversations or spirals of stressful thoughts is not nearly as satisfying as sending these weekly newsletters or doing facetime check ins with you all. I highly value all of your support, compassion and love and I take it all to heart. I’m excited to keep living, growing and learning to better serve you.
